We are at the door of yet another Easter. Many churches see increased attendance during this time, much like during Christmas. Many Christians feel they should improve their relationship with God during this time, myself being one of them.
What does this occasion do for you? Does the remembrance and celebration of our Lord Jesus Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection bring a desire for change in your life? For me, I feel like this is the Christian New Year. Renewed hope, aspirations, sincerity and dedication to our Lord and Savior for the offering of the year ahead. Just like the many New Year’s resolutions that are usually left behind by January 31st, the “new” zeal and fervor is usually gone by May 1st.
As Christians, we should be on a constant path towards deeper relationship and understanding as we become more mature in our knowledge and actions. However, I often feel like I am on a worn out path that I’ve traveled many times over. I am tired of going through the motions. I am angry at the lethargy within myself. It should not be this way. I should be pumped, excited and ready for action at any given moment.
On one hand I am tired of this constant battle within myself, but on the other I am glad I have the desire and will to battle. I would rather have a slow burn than have a shooting flame and then flicker out. Eventually though, even a slow burn needs to catch fire.
I have watched The Passion of Christ every year on Good Friday since I bought the movie. I want to be reminded how Jesus suffered for me. I need to be reminded more. I don’t want this to be a tradition without affect.
Yea, though I’ve walked through the valley of tame Christianity, I will fear myself being feeble. Thy rod and thy staff should correct me in my laziness. Thou hast prepared a table before me, of which I should be eternally thankful with powerful actions and effective daily decisions. Thou hath anointed my life to live in abundance and comfort, and my overrunning cup should be shared with all who are thirsty. Help me be more Lord, for I am yours!
So what are you going to do different this Easter and beyond?
Your brother and warrior in Christ,
Ty Adams

I am reminded that God started my fire, and he is the one who flames it. Though I stumble or fall, it is what I do next that counts.
Lord, give me your desires. Excite me for what excites you! Help me find others that have a passion for you and let our flames explode together. All For your glory Jesus.
